In a unanimous ruling, the U.S. Supreme Court has decided that Hawai`i is entitled to sell or transfer ceded lands that were conveyed to the state by the federal government upon statehood in 1959.
Governor Outlines Budget Plan Before Senate Committee
Governor Lingle testified before the Senate Ways and Means Committee on the Administration's proposed budget plan to close the latest $255 million revenue shortfall projected by the Council on Revenues for the remainder of the current fiscal year (FY09) and the biennium fiscal years 2010 through 2011.
Medal of Honor Ceremony Honors Hawai`i's Fallen
Governor Lingle joined Lt. Securing a Clean Energy Future for Hawai`i
This week, the Lingle-Aiona Administration continued its focus on increasing Hawai`i's energy independence. Governor Lingle announced a new framework that will enhance energy efficiency programs and increase customer participation in Hawai`i's clean energy transformation.
Governor Honors Hawai`i's First Female General
Governor Lingle, commander-in-chief of the Hawai`i National Guard, participated in the retirement ceremony for Brigadier General Kathleen Berg, who in August 2005 became the first female general in the Hawai`i Air National Guard.

DLNR, Volunteers Reopen Polihale State Park
Collaborative efforts between the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) and Kaua`i residents allowed for the reopening of the access road to the park after flooding caused extensive damage four months ago. The value of the volunteers' efforts is estimated at $200,000.

$24.4M Released for Emergency Power Facility
In addition to the $1.8 billion public infrastructure construction plan unveiled by the Governor last December to stimulate the economy and create jobs, Governor Lingle has released $24.4 million to construct a 10-megawatt emergency power facility at Honolulu International Airport.
Administration Leads H1N1 Preparedness Efforts
This week, the state and its partners implemented precautionary measures to protect Hawai`i residents and visitors against the H1N1 influenza. While there have been no cases of the virus in Hawai`i, Governor Lingle and Hawai`i health officials are encouraging residents to develop a plan for preparedness.
Securing a Clean Energy Future for the State of Hawai`i
Reflecting her commitment to Hawai`i's clean energy future, Governor Lingle spoke at a rally in support of legislation to ban the construction of any new fossil fuel burning power plants in Hawai`i. The legislation would support the state's efforts to have 70 percent of Hawai`i's power come from clean energy by 2030.
Promoting Ethical Business Practices
Highlighting the need to build consumer confidence during these challenging economic times, Governor Lingle and the Better Business Bureau of Hawai`i recognized several Hawai`i businesses and nonprofit organizations for operating according to the highest ethical standards and treating their customers with respect.
Hawai`i to Host Nation's Largest Botball Robotics Tournament
On Saturday, Governor Lingle will join 42 Hawai`i teams representing 38 Hawai`i schools from O`ahu, Kaua`i, Maui and the Big Island as they converge at the Hawai`i Convention Center to test their science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills at the Hawai`i Regional Botball Educational Robotics Tournament, the largest Botball tournament in the nation.
Governor Kicks Off Military Appreciation Month
At a ceremony to kick off Military Appreciation Month in Hawai`i, Governor Lingle joined community and business leaders in expressing her appreciation for the contributions of Hawai`i's men and women in uniform in making the state, nation and world a better place.
