Aloha, In order to strengthen Hawai`i's visitor industry and further our efforts to transform our state's economy, I'll be traveling to China this month to visit six cities where we have strategic economic interests. With a nine percent increase in its gross domestic product in the third quarter, China's continuing economic growth is important to Hawai`i's long-term interests. We're working to attract China's growing outbound tourism market and business investments, pursue partnerships in clean energy and promote Hawai`i exports. This framework for our state's long-term economic growth is part of my Administration's five-point economic plan to stimulate the economy, create jobs and position Hawai`i for the future. Strengthening our relationship with China and other neighbors in the Asia-Pacific region provides Hawai`i businesses the opportunity to capitalize on this large, emerging market. I encourage you to follow the progress of our visit on our website, www.hawaii.gov/gov. Mahalo. This is Governor Linda Lingle.
