Initiatives to utilize federal stimulus funds to provide Hawai‘i residents with additional job training and increased unemployment benefits are already underway.

Unemployment Benefits

One day after President Barack Obama signed the federal stimulus bill, Governor Lingle authorized an additional $25 per week in unemployment benefits per claimant through the end of the year as part of the federal package. Employment Services and Training

The State of Hawai‘i has applied for and received an additional $7.7 million for employment services and training, with 85 percent of funds going to counties. News release: Governor Lingle Seeks $7.7 Million Federal Stimulus Funds for Employment Services and Training.
