Governor Lingle's Public Schedule
November 11 – 22, Governor Lingle will travel to Asia (Indonesia, China and Taiwan) to promote tourism and business partnerships. The Governor will visit Indonesia as a member of the East-West Center board of directors to attend the board's annual meeting in Bali, and speak at an East-West Center international conference entitled "Building an Asia-Pacific Community: Unity in Diversity." She will travel to Taiwan to discuss cooperative opportunities, especially in renewable energy development. In China, the Governor will promote travel to Hawai`i and participate in the China International Travel Mart, Asia's largest international tourism fair. She will also meet with airline officials in China and Taiwan to seek new air service and increases in the number of flights/seats to Hawai`i. The Governor’s Asia trip, combined with a simultaneous trip by Lt. Governor Aiona to the Republic of Korea and Japan, is part of the Lingle-Aiona Administration's five-point plan to create jobs and stimulate the economy. The comprehensive economic plan also includes increasing private investment, especially in energy and technology; investing in public infrastructure and capital improvement projects; reducing fees and taxes; and maximizing federal funds and partnerships.
November 24, Governor Lingle and Lt. Governor Aiona will kick off the season of giving at the launch of the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Bell Ringing donation drive.
