WEEKLY RADIO ADDRESS – INDEPENDENCE DAY – July 1, 2005
Announcer:   Now, Governor Linda Lingle's Weekly Radio Address (:56)

Aloha,

Throughout the coming days our state will join the nation in celebrating our country’s 229th birthday.

This Fourth of July, I urge you to remember our Hawai`i-based military who are deployed around the globe defending our freedom.

As President Bush stated, this important task can be accomplished “by flying the flag, sending a letter to our troops in a foreign land, or helping a military family in your community.”

Our Department of Defense has set up a Web site -- AmericaSupportsYou.mil.

Please take a moment to go to this site to learn about the efforts in your own neighborhood.

On this important national holiday, when we celebrate our freedom, let us stand with our men and women who defend the liberties we hold so dear.
And to their families,  I thank you for your courage and sacrifice.  You are always in our thoughts and prayers.
Finally, I urge you to buckle up and drive safely.
Have a great holiday!
This is Governor Linda Lingle
