Aloha.

September is National Preparedness Month and I want to encourage everyone in Hawai`i to join the American Red Cross to take action to prepare yourself, your family and your community, should a disaster strike our islands.

By contacting the Red Cross, you can do your part today to help make your home and community safer for tomorrow.

You will learn simple steps you can take to prevent and respond to emergencies, including how to make a family plan and build an emergency preparedness kit.  You can also get important training in First Aid and CPR.

Disasters can happen anytime and anywhere.  It is everyone’s kuleana to prepare and make Hawai`i safer.

To learn more, contact the Hawai`i Red Cross at 734-21 ZERO 1 or check the disaster preparedness pages in the front of the phone book.

Mahalo. This is Governor Linda Lingle.
