"After much anticipation, Hawai‘i’s students will showcase their science, technology, engineering and math skills in the inaugural FIRST in Hawai‘i Regional Robotics Competition March 27 through 29 at the University of Hawai‘i Stan Sheriff Center.

More than 450 Hawai‘i students on 25 high school teams from the Big Island, Kaua‘i, Maui and O‘ahu spent six grueling weeks constructing robots and preparing for the competition. The event will also feature 12 mainland teams from California, Florida, New Jersey and West Virginia in a fierce competition. In total, more than 700 students will put their robots to the test.

I encourage you and your family to attend this free event and get a first-hand view at how our students are using ingenuity, innovation, academic knowledge and gracious professionalism to improve the future of our state.

For more information about the competition and a schedule of events, visit www.robotics.hawaii.gov."
