"The incredible success of the Waipi`o Majors Little League baseball team has brought tremendous pride to the people of Hawai`i. As World Champions, these young athletes have reminded us we should never give up!

The team played as they were taught by their parents and coaches, whose guidance and mentoring encouraged players to have fun, yet instilled a fierce determination. Perhaps most importantly, their pursuit of victory was characterized by a positive team spirit.

All of us need to remember what the Waipi‘o team highlighted: challenges can be overcome with passion, teamwork and quiet strength. They represent what we value in Hawai‘i’s culture: humility, hard work, determination and family.

Congratulations to the Waipi‘o Majors Little League team for showing the world Hawai‘i’s true aloha spirit."
