"My initial focus is on our team working with all branches of our state government to form a sound policy strategy for Hawai`i's future," said Peck. "We've spent the last ten months working with our partner the Department of Energy and the Hawai`i energy community to build a solid foundation for moving forward in achieving our mutual goals of energy independence and renewable energy development."

A former naval engineer, consultant, and energy management specialist, Peck has been with the State's energy office for the last year, and has had a leadership role in numerous initiatives, including energy planning, shaping the state's approach to renewable energy permitting and facilitation, the state hydrogen program, the greenhouse gas emission reduction task force, and the Hawai`i Clean Energy Initiative, the first-ever state partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy that was launched in January of this year.

Through the leadership of the Lingle-Aiona Administration, significant progress has been made toward the Initiative's goal that 70 percent of Hawai`i's energy comes from renewable sources by 2030.
