Senator Kim's Hydrogen Special Fund Investigative Committee ended a 5 month, 65-hour undertaking with no decision made and no "smoking gun" found. Senator Kim presented her findings at the conclusion of the final marathon session, and the committee will meet at a later date to make their decision.

The 7 p.m. meeting was convened at 7:30 p.m. and immediately recessed until 9:30 p.m, much to the dismay of the public. Many people in attendance had driven in from distant parts of the island such as Wai‘anae and hired baby sitters, and were left with no option but to wait in the halls of the Capitol. The committee reconvened around 10:00 p.m. only to recess for another 20 to 30 minutes as the final copies of the budget were printed. After the meeting reconvened, the chairs of the committees thanked and congratulated each other. Senator Hemmings made one final attempt to secure funding for TANF and charter schools but was not successful.

Investigative Committee Chair, Senator Kim, refuses to let Deputy AG William Wynhoff reivew the documents he was supposed to have been provided a month ago. Despite numerous protests over the course of the investigation from Mr. Wynhoff that those documents be provided, they have yet to be released.

Apr 10, 2008 - Senator Slom Urges Conclusion of Investigation

Senator Slom states that a letter should not be sent to the Office of Disciplinary Counsel because it would take the focus off the purpose of the committee and isn’t justified. Under Senator Kim’s direction, the hearings have run for more than 43 hours this session.
