Governor Lingle Addresses State Economy/Budget

Speaking before 200 business leaders at the Maui Chamber of Commerce's annual installation luncheon, Governor Lingle outlined steps the Lingle-Aiona Administration has taken to strengthen Hawai`i's economic future in light of unprecedented fiscal challenges. The Governor also discussed her plan to furlough all state employees in the State Executive Branch under her jurisdiction for three days per month starting July 1.

State Dedicates Pohoiki Boat Launch Ramp

As part of the Lingle-Aiona Administration's ongoing efforts to upgrade small boat harbors statewide, the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) dedicated the new Pohoiki concrete boat launch ramp, accessible ramp and loading dock on the Big Island. The old Pohoiki boat ramp and loading dock had fallen into disrepair.

100th Infantry Battalion Veterans Celebrate 67 Years

Governor Lingle joined members of the 100th Infantry Battalion Veterans Club at a ceremony to celebrate their 67th anniversary as an organization and recognize executive board members. This year, the club installed an executive board that consists solely of descendants of veterans for the first time in the organization's history.

Strengthening Ties to Hawai`i's Sister States

Governor Lingle and Lt. Governor Aiona welcomed Governor Michael Marcos Keon of Ilocos Norte, Philippines and his delegation to discuss the continuing efforts in the promotion of cultural, social and economic ties and cooperation between Ilocos Norte and Hawai`i, as contained in a sister-state-province agreement signed in 2005.

July 2, Governor Lingle will participate in the groundbreaking for a new middle school in `Ewa Makai. The Governor will also attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the H-1 Freeway, Kapolei Interchange Complex, Phase 1.
