The State of Hawai`i Executive Office on Aging and the Policy Advisory Board for Elder Affairs honored the contributions of kupuna to Hawai`i during a recognition luncheon at Washington Place this week. The State recognized eight honorees for their dedicated service to their communities.

Major General Pawling

Governor Lingle joins the people of Hawai`i in thanking Major General Peter S. Pawling for his service. MG Pawling left his current post as commander of the 154th Wing, Hawai`i Air National Guard to become mobilization assistant to the commander of United States Pacific Command.

Honolulu Niigata Kenjin
Kai Celebrates Centennial

Emphasizing the importance of perpetuating traditions and sharing Japanese culture with the people of Hawai`i, Governor Lingle celebrated the centennial anniversary of the Honolulu Niigata Kenjin Kai. The club provides a social venue for people who trace their roots to Niigata Prefecture, Japan.
