Governor Testifies
in Support of Maui
Agricultural Land, Jobs

This week, Governor Lingle attended a meeting of the Commission on Water Resource Management to testify in support of preserving nearly 35,000 acres of agricultural land on Maui and protecting the jobs of more than 800 workers and their families who depend on water for their livelihoods.

New International Arrivals
Corridor Opens at HNL

State transportation and tourism leaders dedicated the first phase of the new International Arrivals Corridor at the Honolulu International Airport. The corridor, located on the third level of the `Ewa Concourse, provides an easy, secure route to the Federal Inspection Services area for 30 to 40 percent of arriving international passengers.

State Employees

Governor Lingle and Chief of Staff Barry Fukunaga honored the accomplishments of state employees during the annual Governor's Awards Ceremony. This year, 17 team nominees, 12 manager nominees and 18 employee nominees competed to be selected as the State Team of the Year, Manager of the Year and Employee of the Year, respectively.

"A Day on the Farm" Promotes Awareness

Governor Lingle and Sandra Lee Kunimoto, director of the Department of Agriculture joined Hawai`i residents at "A Day on the Farm," an event dedicated to supporting farmers in the Kamilonui Valley, located in Hawai`i Kai. "Not only is agriculture an important part of the economy, but it is an important part of our lifestyle as well," Governor Lingle said.

October 23, Governor Lingle will deliver remarks at the Hawai`i Council on Economic Education's (HCEE) annual dinner. HCEE seeks to promote and improve the teaching of economics in Hawai`i's public and private schools and increase the economic and financial literacy of Hawai`i's students and residents.
