Building a Clean Energy Future for Hawai`i

Governor Lingle announced the state is making significant progress in the development of an undersea cable that would connect the islands into one electrical grid, allowing the integration of wind power generated in Maui County to be transmitted to O`ahu. This milestone comes one year after a comprehensive energy agreement was signed between the State of Hawai`i and Hawaiian Electric companies.

Governor Lingle recognized individuals and organizations that have benefited the children and youth of Hawai`i. "The most important thing we can do is set children on the right path and give them the tools they need to live a good life," the Governor said.

Public Hearings to Discuss Proposed Amendments

The Department of Land and Natural Resources is inviting the public to attend a series of statewide public hearings during the first two weeks of November on proposed amendments to rules for state parks, boating and ocean recreation facilities, and forestry and wildlife areas.

Hawaiian Airlines
Celebrates 80 Years 

Governor Lingle joined Hawaiian Airlines leaders and employees at a luncheon to commemorate the company's 80th anniversary. "Eighty years in this particular business is quite remarkable, especially under the circumstances under which they have operated," the Governor said.
