Jul 05, 2009 - Governor Welcomes Taiwan President Ma
Governor Lingle welcomed Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou and members of his Cabinet to Hawai`i. The Governor and Lt. Governor joined President Ma at several events, including a reception hosted by the Overseas Chinese in Hawai`i and a visit to Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Memorial.
Jun 30, 2009 - Governor Submits Potential Veto List
Governor Lingle submitted to the State Legislature a list of 65 bills that she is considering for potential vetoes. The bills are being considered for potential veto due to various factors including significant negative impacts on the public, legal or constitutional concerns, potential unintended consequences, and technical flaws in the legislation.

Jun 23, 2009 - State Breaks Ground on Wailua Bridge, Named in Honor of Late Kaua`i Mayor Baptiste
Governor Lingle joined the state Department of Transportation (DOT), as well as federal and county officials at a groundbreaking ceremony for the Wailua Cane Haul Bridge Widening Project on Kaua`i's Kuhi`o Highway.
Jun 18, 2009 - Governor Lingle Details Furlough Plan
Governor Lingle announced details of the Administration's plan to furlough all state employees in the Executive Branch to help close the unprecedented $2.7 billion revenue shortfall projected between now and June 30, 2011. The furlough plan represents the first time labor costs are being impacted to address the state's budget gap.
Jun 16, 2009 - Freeway Service Patrol to Ease Traffic, Increase Safety
As part of the Lingle-Aiona Administration's ongoing efforts to keep Hawai`i motorists on the move, Governor Lingle announced the start of a two-year Freeway Service Patrol. The program, proven to save motorists time and money in other urban areas of the country, provides free emergency roadside service to motorists to keep freeways clear.

At the U.S. Army's 234th Birthday Ball, Lt. General Benjamin Mixon presented Governor Lingle with the 2009 Mana O Ke Koa "Spirit of the Warrior" Award from the soldiers of U.S. Army Pacific, as well as the Distinguished Civilian Service Award from the Secretary of the Army.

Continuing the Lingle-Aiona Administration's commitment to provide affordable housing opportunities for native Hawaiians and to build communities to benefit the entire state, the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) recently awarded an additional 11 turnkey homes and five vacant lots in the 172-unit Pi`ilani Mai Ke Kai residential subdivision in Anahola, Kaua`i.
