Leadership Conference Set to Inspire

The fifth annual International Women's Leadership Conference, hosted by Governor Linda Lingle is set to inspire generations of future leaders. Register now for this exciting conference and gain a new global perspective on Wednesday, September 24 at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.

This year, the conference will provide participants with a unique opportunity to network with the 1,200 attendees and hear inspirational stories from a renowned group of women speakers from 9 different nations: the Philippines, United Kingdom, Finland, Uganda, China, Japan, Australia, Sudan and the United States.

With a focus on sharing "Perspectives, Reflections and Visions for a Global Community," the conference, moderated by Mrs. Vivian Aiona, will also feature a video message from Condoleezza Rice, U.S. Secretary of State.

Keynote speakers scheduled to attend include:

  • Kristie Kenney, U.S. ambassador to the Philippines;
  • Cathy Lanier, chief of police for the District of Columbia;
  • Moira Cameron, the first-ever female Yeoman Warder at the Tower of London;
  • Jayne Schmitt, vice-president and CFO, Customer Solutions Operating Group, BAE Systems;
  • Aduei Riak, one of the 4,000 Sudanese refugees as a child and current paralegal at Boston's Ropes & Gray; and
  • Alison Spencer, IBM's manager for Organizational Culture and Change based in Sydney, Australia.

The conference will also feature a panel discussion with international higher education leaders, including university presidents from Finland, New Zealand, Uganda, China, Japan and the United States.
