100th Infantry Battalion Veterans Celebrate 67 Years

Governor Lingle joined members of the 100th Infantry Battalion Veterans Club at a ceremony to celebrate their 67th anniversary as an organization and recognize executive board members. This year, the club installed an executive board that consists solely of descendants of veterans of the 100th for the first time in the organization's history.

The 100th Infantry Battalion Veterans club has seven chapters on O`ahu, which are meant to represent the companies of the battalion. There are also chapters on Kaua`i, Maui, the Big Island and California, and a chapter for descendents of veterans on O`ahu.

The 2009 Board Members include:

- President Michael Harada, whose father, Edward K. Harada, served in D Company.

- First Vice President Avin Oshiro, whose father, Seie Oshiro, served in A Company.

- Second Vice President Ann Ishida-Ho, whose father, Seiso Kamishita, served in B Company.

- Treasurer David Nakamaejo, whose father, Koei Nakamaejo, served in D Company.

- Assistant Treasurer Albert Turner, whose father, Col. Farrant Turner, was the first Commander of the 100th HQ.

- Secretary Lois Nakagawa, whose father, Yoshito Aimoto, served at Headquarters.

- Past president is Robert Arakaki, a veteran who served in B Company.
