Congratulations, Major General Pawling

Governor Lingle joins the people of Hawai`i in thanking Major General Peter S. Pawling for his service. MG Pawling recently left his current post as commander of the 154th Wing, Hawai`i Air National Guard (HIANG) to become mobilization assistant to the commander of United States Pacific Command.

He was promoted to major general upon assumption of his new position, where he will serve as the principal advisor to the commander, U.S. Pacific Command, regarding reserve component readiness and operations.

As commander of the 154th Wing, MG Pawling was responsible for one of the largest, most complex and diverse wings in the Air National Guard. He led the 154th Wing through four operational inspections with excellent ratings and transitioned the airlift unit from C-130 propeller airplanes to C-17 cargo jets.
