"Over the past two weeks, many Hawai`i residents and visitors were negatively impacted because of decisions made by two airlines to stop service to our state.

Working in collaboration with state agencies, airlines, hotels, tourism officials, airport staff and volunteers, we have been able to add additional flights, as well as provide hotel accommodations and general assistance to all affected passengers.

The state has also activated our multi-agency Rapid Response Team to assist affected employees to better understand their unemployment and health benefit options. Job fairs and support counseling are also being implemented statewide.

I know this is a challenging time for many families, and we will continue to assist wherever we can. I am incredibly proud of the people of Hawai`i who embody the true spirit of aloha by helping those in need."
