One of the most important decisions facing Hawai`i voters in this year's General Election is the ballot question, "Shall there be a convention to propose a revision of, or amendments to, the State Constitution?"

A constitutional convention, or concon, would provide the opportunity to address long-standing issues facing our state, including restructuring the public education system, increasing access and affordability to quality health care, protecting important agricultural lands and expanding legislative options, such as public initiative and referendum.

Our last concon was held in 1978. Ultimately, it is up to the people of Hawai`i to decide whether 30 years is long enough to wait to update our state constitution.
