"This week I am in Washington, D.C. attending the annual National Governors Association meetings as well as meeting with President Obama and Senators Inouye and Akaka.

During these meetings, I will be discussing with my fellow governors and federal leaders issues which are critical to Hawai`i's future – including clean energy and investing in infrastructure.

As the nation begins to understand the many components of the federal stimulus package, my Administration's focus on maximizing federal dollars and partnerships as part of our state's five-point plan for economic action will become even more critical.

I will also be meeting with members of the President's cabinet, including the secretaries of energy, housing, veteran's affairs and homeland security. Working with the new national leadership to address our state’s major initiatives will maintain a clear roadmap for the future of Hawai`i."
