January 22, 2009 - Governor's Weekly Radio Address - New Legislative Session, New Opportunities
Click here to listen to this address.
This week marks the start of the 2009 Legislative Session.
Because of the unprecedented fiscal situation our state finds itself in, we will all need to work together to address a series of challenges as well as take advantage of a number of opportunities that lie before us.
My team and I are excited to work collaboratively with members of the Legislature on major programs, including the Hawai`i Clean Energy Initiative. We will begin a comprehensive statewide highway modernization plan to improve safety and traffic congestion on our roadways. We will also invest in a strategic plan to reinvigorate our recreational resources, to upgrade our parks, trails, small boat harbors and forest reserves.
I encourage you to share your thoughts and ideas with us throughout the session. To follow the progress of particular legislation, please visit my website at www.hawaii.gov/gov.
