July 2, 2009 - Governor's Weekly Radio Address - Veotes and Public Interaction

Aloha,
Under Hawai`i's Constitution, I am required to notify the Legislature of bills which I am considering for veto.
I am currently reviewing 65 bills for potential vetoes because of various factors, including negative impacts on the public, legal or constitutional concerns, unintended consequences or technical flaws. Because of the unprecedented economic challenges we are facing, my Administration is placing additional scrutiny on bills with fiscal impacts or that would delay our economic recovery.
As I have done every year, I am inviting the public to weigh in on these bills. Even though the legislative session is over, the review process is ongoing and I urge members of the public to get involved and make sure their voice is heard.
To view the list of bills which I am considering for veto, visit my website at www.hawaii.gov/gov. You may also contact my office via email to share your comments on these pieces of legislation.
Mahalo. This is Governor Linda Lingle.
