GOVERNOR’S ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING TO FEATURE DOT AND DLNR REPRESENTATIVES

HONOLULU – The Governor’s Kaua`i Advisory Committee will meet at 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 9, 2003, in room 2A & 2B of the Moikeha Bldg., 4444 Rice St., Lihue. Rodney Haraga, director of the State Department of Transportation, and Ernest Lau, deputy director of the Department of Land & Natural Resources, will be on hand to provide updates on current and future projects as well as to hear from the community.
The focus of the October 9th meeting will be to solicit community input on budget priorities for Kaua`i. The Kaua`i Advisory Committee will finalize the priorities it will recommend to the Governor at this meeting to ensure that the Governor receives the information in time for her consideration before the administration’s package is submitted to the Legislature.
Governor Linda Lingle created advisory committees to give the neighbor islands a stronger voice in state government. The Kaua`i Advisory Committee holds monthly public meetings to seek community input and advise the Governor of important issues, budget priorities, and recommendations for state boards and commissions.
The members of the Governor’s Kaua`i Advisory Committee are James Anakalea, Linda Collins, Laura Cushnie, Kelly Banks Hoen, Vilamor Galiza, Jerry Ornellas, Barbara Smith, Matt Takata, and Leo Trinidad.
