GOVERNOR LINGLE RELEASES JUDICIAL NOMINATION LIST

HONOLULU – Three days after announcing her appointments to the Circuit Court of the First Court and Intermediate Court of Appeals, Governor Linda Lingle has released another judicial nomination list provided to her by the Judicial Selection Commission.  The latest list includes six nominees to fill a vacancy on the Circuit Court of the Third Circuit (Hilo).

Nominees to fill the vacancy in the Circuit Court of the Third Circuit:

Harry P. Freitas

Glenn S. Hara

Ted H. S. Hong

Joseph K. Kamelamela

Diana L. Van De Car

Terence T. Yoshioka

The Commission does not rank the candidates.  The Governor has 30 days from receipt of the list (January 22, 2004) to make her selection.

In her continuing effort to maintain openness in her administration, Governor Lingle has elected to make the list available to the public prior to making the appointment, as she has done for her four earlier appointments.  Previous governors have sometimes chosen not to make such lists public or have done so only after making a selection.
