For Immediate Release: February 26, 2004
HONOLULU – Governor Linda Lingle recently released $1,017,000 in state funds to remove architectural barriers at Kalani High School in keeping with accessibility guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act. These corrective measures include adding walkways, ramps, parking stalls, elevators and other modifications to building interiors and exteriors.
“Our public buildings should be easily accessible to everyone, including persons with disabilities,” Governor Lingle said. “This capital improvement project will bring Kalani High School into compliance with Americans with Disabilities standards, and will help ensure the safety and comfort of students and staff members, along with parents and other community members who visit the campus.”
The design phase of the project is scheduled for July 2004 through May 2005. Construction is expected to begin in October 2005 and to be completed in July 2006.
