GOVERNOR’S WEST HAWAI`I ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO MEET ON APRIL 14TH

KONA – The Governor’s West Hawai`i Advisory Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 14th at the Kealakehe High School, Cafeteria Bldg., 74-5000 Puohulihuli in Kailua-Kona. 

The agenda will include Keoni Wagner of Hawaiian Airlines, who will discuss issues facing the airline; Chauncey Wong Yuen, Hawai`i district manager, State Department of Transportation, who will discuss the general plan for Keahole Airport; and Pete Hendricks from the County of Hawai`i, who will provide an overview of the County’s future plans for a civic center in West Hawai`i.

Public testimony is invited on local issues relating to state government.  Informational presentations are welcomed with appropriate notification for inclusion on the agenda.

Governor Linda Lingle created advisory committees to give the neighbor islands a stronger voice in state government.  The Advisory Committee meets on the second Wednesday of the month to seek community input and advise the Governor on important issues in West Hawai`i, including budget priorities.  The Committee also makes recommendations for state boards and commissions.

Sakai, Kona; Shirley Spencer, Kona; William Sanborn, Waimea; Rick Vidgen, Kona, and ex-officio member, Sharron Ackles, West Hawai`i Governor’s Liaison.
