GOVERNOR’S ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING TO FEATURE UPDATES ON PARKS BY STATE PARKS ADMINISTRATOR

LIHU`E, HAWAI`I – The Governor’s Kaua`i Advisory Committee will meet at 5:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 13, 2004, in rooms 2A & 2B of the Moikeha Bldg., 4444 Rice St., Lihu`e.  Dan Quinn, administrator of the Division of State Parks, Department of Land & Natural Resources, will be on hand to provide an update on current and future Kaua`i projects as well as to hear from the community.

The May 13th meeting will focus on how improvement and maintenance projects planned for state parks, especially on Kaua`i, fared this legislative session.  Mr. Quinn will also discuss the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandate on large cesspools and its impact on parks.

Governor Linda Lingle created advisory committees to give the neighbor islands a stronger voice in state government.  The Kaua`i Advisory Committee holds monthly public meetings to seek community input and advise the Governor of important issues, budget priorities, and recommendations for state boards and commissions.

The members of the Governor’s Kaua`i Advisory Committee are James Anakalea, Linda Collins, Laura Cushnie, Kelly Banks Hoen, Vilamor Galiza, Jerry Ornellas, Barbara Smith, Matt Takata, and Leo Trinidad.
