HONOLULU – Governor Linda Lingle has released $380,000 for the design and construction of drainage improvements at the University of Hawai`i-Hilo campus to address flooding problems.

The scope of the work involves drainage improvements at eight sites throughout the UH-Hilo campus which are prone to flooding.

“With all the rain Hilo receives, these measures are necessary to provide a safer and more comfortable campus for the students and faculty at UH-Hilo,” said Governor Lingle.

This project was included in the Board of Regents’ supplemental budget request for fiscal year 2005.  The total project cost is $429,000, with $49,000 previously allotted.  The Department of Accounting and General Services (DAGS) has completed the design of this project and expects construction to be finished by February 2006.
