HONOLULU – Governor Linda Lingle has released $821,000 to replace the existing fire alarm system at Lahainaluna High School on Maui.

The project involves the design and construction to replace the school’s fire alarm system with a reliable fire notification system, which will meet the requirements of the fire code.

“The new fire alarm system at Lahainaluna High School will help ensure the safety of students, teachers and staff in the event of a fire,” said Governor Lingle.

Construction will be done during the school’s summer break to minimize disruption to the regular classroom instruction.  The new fire alarm system is expected to be completed in time for the start of the new school year in August.
