GOVERNOR LINGLE RELEASES $460,000 TO HAWAI`I 3R’S PROGRAM
For Immediate Release: January 6, 2006
HONOLULU – Governor Linda Lingle has released a $460,000 grant-in-aid to the Hawai`i 3R’s program, which awards grants to Repair, Remodel and Restore Hawai`i’s public schools that step forward with private contributions and volunteerism of equal or greater value to the requested grant amount.
The program helps reduce the backlog of repair and maintenance at public schools and promotes civic vitality by increasing volunteer activities in schools, supporting and facilitating volunteerism, and recruiting the participation of key sectors of the community – businesses, military and other associations.
“I am very proud to support this initiative that gets the community involved in a collaborative effort to repair and improve Hawai`i’s public schools,” said Governor Lingle.
