GOVERNOR LINGLE RELEASES $600,000 FOR IMPROVEMENTS AT ALA WAI ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

For Immediate Release:  February 10, 2006

HONOLULU  – Governor Linda Lingle has released $600,000 for drainage improvements at Ala Wai Elementary School in Honolulu.

These improvements will provide new area drains and redirect rainwater run-off from the southwest portion of the grounds to a more appropriate discharge point.  This will protect the southwest area from future flooding and problems arising from accumulated sitting water.

“The drainage improvements at Ala Wai Elementary School will provide a safer and healthier environment for our students and teachers,” said Governor Lingle.

This project is priority number 28 of 30 in the Department of Education’s Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) Implementation Plan dated November 2005.

The project is expected to be completed by February 2007.
