GOVERNOR’S EAST HAWAI`I COUNCIL OF ADVISORS TO MEET ON THURSDAY, FEB. 23 AT HAWAI`I COMMUNITY COLLEGE CAFETERIA

Hilo – The Governor’s East Hawai`i Council of Advisors will hold its monthly
meeting on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 5:30 p.m. at the Hawai`i Community College
Cafeteria in Hilo.
This month’s guest speaker will be Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Chairman Peter Young. The Chairman will inform the Council of DLNR’s legislative initiatives and budget and provide updates on issues as they relate to East Hawai`i.
“The Governor’s Council of Advisors monthly meeting provides the community with an opportunity to ask questions and provide input regarding state government,” said Dylan Nonaka, the Governor’s East Hawai`i Liaison. “We look forward to Chairman Young updating the community on the Administration’s efforts to protect and preserve the state’s natural and cultural resources.”
The Governor’s neighbor island councils of advisors are tasked with providing the Governor with a list of short- and long-term issues and goals that should be addressed by state government over the next one-, two-, and five-year periods. The councils also identify spending priorities and potential new sources of revenue for the state, as well as recommend potential nominees from the neighbor islands to serve on state boards and commissions.
The members of the Governor’s East Hawai`i Council of Advisors are Chairman Tom Kalili, Pua Tokumoto, Andy Baclig, Carol Van Camp, Ted Hong, Ken Ahlo, John Kai and Alton Okinaka.
