GOVERNOR LINGLE APPOINTS CINDY INOUYE AS HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT DEPUTY DIRECTOR

HONOLULU – Governor Linda Lingle has named Cindy S. Inouye as deputy director of the Department of Human Resources Development, effective March 17.
As deputy director, Inouye will work with Interim Director Marie Laderta in overseeing the department’s classification and compensation plans, recruiting, employee benefits, safety and workers compensation. She will also assist in coordinating the labor-management relations and manager-employee performance programs.
Inouye is currently supervising deputy attorney general for the State’s tort litigation and civil rights litigation divisions. She has also served as deputy attorney general in the tort litigation and administration divisions.
She previously served as deputy corporation counsel for the City and County of Honolulu’s counseling and drafting division, the personnel unit, where she represented the City in personnel and labor matters such as grievance arbitration and interest arbitration. She also presented cases on behalf of the City before the Civil Service Commission, Civil Rights Commission and Hawai`i Labor Relations Board.
From 1986 to 1996, Inouye was with the law firm of Pavey, Wilson and Glickstein.
Inouye earned a law degree from the William S. Richardson School of Law, as well as a master’s and bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Hawai`i. She is a graduate of Kalani High School.
