GOVERNOR LINGLE RELEASES $575,500 FOR NEW CLASSROOM BUILDING AT NANAKULI HIGH SCHOOL

For Immediate Release:  February 27, 2006


HONOLULU – Governor Linda Lingle has released $575,500 to finance the design of a new eight-classroom building at Nanakuli High School on O`ahu. 

The new building is anticipated to house general education classrooms, as well as a self-contained special education classroom and a food service laboratory. 

“This new building will provide Nanakuli High School with the ability to keep up with today’s educational needs and provide quality education and enhanced opportunities to all students,” said Governor Lingle. 

The total cost of the new building is $6,050,000.  The design is expected to be completed by December 2006.  Construction is expected to begin by March 2007 and completed in August 2008. 

This project is priority number 24 of 30 in the Department of Education’s Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) Implementation Plan dated November 2005.
