GOVERNOR LINGLE RELEASES $405,000 TO RENOVATE CLASSROOMS FOR MILILANI WAENA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

For Immediate Release:  March 29, 2006

HONOLULU – Governor Linda Lingle has released $405,000 in design and construction funds to renovate general education classrooms for use as special education classrooms at Mililani Waena Elementary School on O`ahu.

This project will enhance the school’s ability to meet its current and expanding need for special education facilities, and accommodate medically fragile students in the Mililani area.

“It is important that we accommodate the needs of growing communities and our students,” said Governor Lingle.  “By providing more facilities for special education at Mililani Waena Elementary School, we are ensuring our children receive the early attention and guidance they may need to advance through school and in life.”

This project is part of priority number 29 of 30 in the Department of Education’s Capital Improvement Project implementation plan dated November 18, 2005.

The total cost is $405,000.  It is expected to be completed by summer 2007.
