GOVERNOR LINGLE RELEASES $30 MILLION FOR CLASSROOM RENOVATIONS STATEWIDE

HONOLULU – Governor Linda Lingle has released $30 million for the construction of classroom renovations at public schools statewide.

“We must continue to invest in our schools so that Hawai‘i students and teachers have modern and well-equipped facilities in which to teach and learn,” said Governor Lingle. “By enhancing our students’ education, the entire state benefits.”

Improvements will include the replacement of light fixtures, windows, flooring, doors, whiteboards, tack boards and room signage, as well as repainting at the following schools:

Big Island
Ho‘okena Elementary School   
Konawaena Middle School  

 

Maui      
Lāhaina Intermediate School   

 

Kaua‘i    
Koloa Elementary School  

 

O‘ahu
Fern Elementary School
Kalihi Uka Elementary School
Linapuni Elementary School
Pu‘uhale Elementary School
Benjamin Parker Elementary School
Kāne‘ohe Elementary School
Lehua Elementary School
Makakilo Elementary School
Pearl City High School

Construction start times will vary, but are scheduled to begin in late 2008 and be completed by early 2010.
