GOVERNOR LINGLE RELEASES $74,000 FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE DIAMOND HEAD HEALTH CENTER
For Immediate Release: March 14, 2008
HONOLULU – Governor Linda Lingle has released $74,000 in design funds to re-roof the Diamond Head Health Center.
Installed nearly 20 years ago, the center’s current roof leaks in several places, affecting programs located on the top floor and damaging the building’s interior. This project will include installing a new roof and flashings, removing and replacing an existing satellite dish and repairing portions of the courtyard where there is rainwater intrusion.
“The Diamond Head Health Center offers a wide range of vital health care and prevention services to the community,” said Governor Lingle. “This project will improve working conditions for the center’s staff and support them in caring for patients.”
These project funds will allow for the completion of the design phase and supplement a previous allotment of $21,000 for design. The total project cost is estimated to be $789,900.
Design is ongoing and scheduled to be completed in July 2008. Construction is scheduled to begin in November 2008 and be completed in June 2009.
Located on Kīlauea Avenue, the Diamond Head Health Center houses various Department of Health programs, including STD/AIDS Prevention, the Public Health Nursing branch, Developmental Disabilities, Adult Mental Health, and Child and Adolescent Mental Health.
