GOVERNOR LINGLE RELEASES $795,000 FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE DIAMOND HEAD HEALTH CENTER

For Immediate Release:  October 6, 2008

HONOLULU – Governor Linda Lingle has released $795,000 in construction funds to re-roof the Diamond Head Health Center.

This project will include installing a new roof, flashings and insulation; relocating an existing satellite dish; replacing a stand-alone air-conditioning unit that will be impacted by the re-roofing work; and repairing portions of the courtyard where there is rainwater intrusion.

“The state continues to move forward with bond-funded capital improvement projects that will upgrade our facilities and benefit residents,” said Governor Lingle. “This project will address physical plant issues at the Diamond Head Health Center so that the facility can offer patients and staff a clean, safe and well-kept environment.”

Governor Lingle previously released $95,000 for project design.

Construction is scheduled to begin in February 2009 and be completed in October 2009.

Located on Kīlauea Avenue, the Diamond Head Health Center houses various Department of Health programs, including STD/AIDS Prevention, the Public Health Nursing branch, Developmental Disabilities, Adult Mental Health, and Child and Adolescent Mental Health.
