DLNR CHAIRMAN PETER YOUNG TO ADDRESS GOVERNOR’S WEST HAWAI`I COUNCIL OF ADVISORS ON JAN. 10

KONA – The Governor’s West Hawai`i Council of Advisors will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 10, 2007, 5:30 p.m., at the County of Hawai`i’s Liquor Commission Conference Room, 75-5722 Hanama Place, Suite 1107, in Kailua-Kona.

The Council of Advisors' guest speaker will be Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Chairman Peter Young who will discuss the DLNR biennium budget for 2007-2009, including specific projects and programs for the Big Island. 

The neighbor island councils of advisors are tasked with providing the Governor a list of short- and long-term issues and goals that should be addressed by state government.  The councils also identify spending priorities and potential new sources of revenue for the state, as well as recommend potential nominees from the neighbor islands to serve on state boards and commissions.

Members of the Governor’s West Hawai`i Council of Advisors are Beverly Byouk, Ocean View; Joanne Ralston, Kapaau; John Ray and J. William Sanborn, Waimea; Douglas Carr, Waikoloa; and Rick Vidgen, Lei Kihoi, Elaine Watai, and Estela Halverson of Kona.
