DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT & TOURISM TO PRESENT GOVERNOR’S HAWAI‘I INNOVATION INITIATIVE TO KAUA‘I COUNCIL OF ADVISORS

LIHU`E – The Governor’s Kaua`i Council of Advisors will meet on Thursday, Feb. 15, at 5:00 p.m. in meeting rooms 2A & 2B of the Moikeha Bldg., 4444 Rice St. The public is invited to attend.
Mark Anderson, deputy director of the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism, will present the Lingle-Aiona Administration’s Hawai‘i Innovation Initiative. The initiative, which is designed help raise the standard of living for everyone in Hawai‘i, while decreasing over reliance on land development as the foundation of the state’s economy, features four main components: Innovation in the Economy, Innovation in Education, Innovation in Workforce Development and Linking Hawai‘i to the Global Economy.
Governor Linda Lingle created Councils of Advisors to give the neighbor islands a stronger voice in state government. The Kaua‘i Council of Advisors holds monthly public meetings to seek community input and advise the Governor of important issues, budget priorities, and recommendations for state boards and commissions.
The members of the Governor’s Kaua‘i Council of Advisors are James Anakalea, Linda Collins, Laura Cushnie, Vilamor Galiza, Scott Giarman, Jerry Ornellas, Barbara Smith, Matt Takata, and Leo Trinidad.
