DLNR CHAIRMAN TO ADDRESS GOVERNOR'S EAST HAWAI'I COUNCIL OF ADVISORS

HILO – The Governor’s East Hawai‘i Council of Advisors will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, March 29, 5:15 p.m. in the Aupuni Center Conference room at 101 Pauahi St. in Hilo. The public is invited to attend.
The Council’s guest speaker will be Peter Young, director, Department of Land and Natural Resources. He will discuss the DLNR’s biennium budget request for 2007-2009 along with this year’s legislative initiatives and projects specifically related to the Big Island.
The Governor’s neighbor island councils of advisors are tasked with providing the Governor with a list of short- and long-term issues and goals that should be addressed by state government. The councils also identify spending priorities and potential new sources of revenue for the state, as well as recommend potential nominees from the neighbor islands to serve on state boards and commissions.
The members of the Governor’s East Hawai‘i Council of Advisors are Chairman Alton Okinaka, John Kai, Andy Baclig, Carol Van Camp, Jennifer Zelko, Kainoa Kaumeheiwa-Rego, Ken Ahlo, and Walter Moe.
