INVASIVE SPECIES TO BE DISCUSSED AT THE GOVERNOR’S KAUA‘I COUNCIL OF ADVISORS MEETING

LIHU‘E, KAUA‘I – The Governor’s Kaua‘i Council of Advisors will meet on Thursday, April 19, 2007, 5:00 p.m. in meeting rooms 2A & 2B of the Moikeha Bldg., 4444 Rice St.  The public is invited to attend.

Jackie Kozak, Hawai‘i Invasive Species Council (HISC) public relations and outreach specialist, and Keren Gundersen, Kaua‘i Invasive Species Committee project manager, will brief the Council on invasive species on Kaua‘i.  They will also discuss the efforts being made to prevent new species from coming to Kaua‘i and to control the species already on the island.  They will also cover ways the public can assist in the effort.

Governor Linda Lingle created councils of advisors to give the neighbor islands a stronger voice in state government.  The Kaua‘i Council of Advisors holds monthly public meetings to seek community input and advise the Governor of important issues, public priorities, and recommendations for state boards and commissions.

The members of the Governor’s Kaua‘i Council of Advisors are James Anakalea, Linda Collins, Laura Cushnie, Vilamor Galiza, Scott Giarman, Jerry Ornellas, Barbara Smith, Matt Takata, and Leo Trinidad.
