GOVERNOR LINGLE ORDERS STATE FLAGS TO FLY AT HALF-STAFF AS NATION HONORS VICTIMS OF VIRGINIA TECH TRAGEDY
For Immediate Release: April 17, 2007
HONOLULU – Governor Linda Lingle has ordered state flags at state and county buildings to be flown at half-staff from today until sunset, Sunday, April 22, 2007, out of respect for the victims of the tragedy at Virginia Tech on Monday, April 16. The Governor’s order coincides with a proclamation issued today by President George W. Bush ordering all U.S. flags to fly at half-staff for the same period.
“Hawai‘i joins the nation in mourning the loss of the innocent victims of this horrible and senseless act of violence,” said Governor Lingle. “Our hearts and prayers go out to the families and friends of those who lost their lives or were injured, and we stand united with the Virginia Tech community as they struggle to recover from this heartbreaking tragedy.”
