Public Schedule for the Week of April 20-26, 2009

April 20, Governor Lingle will discuss state issues in her afternoon drive-time radio show with host Mike Buck from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. HST. The show can be heard live statewide: Hilo (The Beach, KTBH 102.1 FM), Maui (KAOI 1110 AM), Kaua`i (KQNG 570 AM), and O`ahu (KHVH 830 AM), as well as on the Governor's Web site www.hawaii.gov/gov.

April 22, Governor Lingle will read to students at Webling Elementary School as part of the school's "We Love to Read" program.

April 23, The Governor will participate in the groundbreaking for Big Island Carbon, a new company that will turn macadamia nut shells into high-quality activated carbon that can be used in the pharmaceutical, environmental, and other industries as well as to produce biofuel. 

April 23, Governor Lingle and Board of Land and Natural Resources Chair Laura Thielen will visit Kekaha Kai State Park, where the Administration is proposing extensive improvements as part of the $240 million Recreational Renaissance plan to upgrade Hawai`i's state parks, small boat harbors, trails and other outdoor recreational facilities.

April 23, Governor Lingle will join Hawaiian Homes Commission Chair Micah Kāne in a meeting to discuss the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands' master plan for the La‘i ‘Ôpua / Kealakehe region.

April 23, Governor Lingle, Mayor Kenoi and Hawaiian Homes Commission Chair Micah Kāne will dedicate Keanalehu Drive, located above Kealakehe High School.  The new road will connect the Kealakehe and La‘i ‘Ôpua Laiopua subdivisions, reduce the commute time to and from the school, and will also reduce congestion on the roads that are currently used. 

April 24, The Governor will recognize Hawai`i businesses that have implemented innovative measures to improve energy efficiency and protect Hawai`i's natural environment.

April 25, Governor Lingle will attend St. Luke's Episcopal Church’s Centennial Celebration

April 25, The Governor will attend a benefit fund-raiser for the Hawai`i State Art Museum. The event, "Image – A Night of Art," is hosted by the Friends of the Hawai`i State Art Museum.
