February 2, Governor Lingle will participate in the dedication of the Ka `Ohu Hou O Manoa transitional shelter for homeless women and children. The facility will provide "clean and sober" housing as well as services to assist the women in becoming self-sufficient while they work or attend school.
February 4, Governor Lingle will discuss state issues on her monthly radio show with host Rick Hamada from 7:05 - 8:00 a.m. HST. Listeners are invited to call 808-521-8383 from O`ahu or 888-565-8383 from the Neighbor Islands with questions and comments. The show can be heard live statewide on O`ahu (KHVH 830 AM), Maui (KAOI 1110 AM), Hilo (KPUA 670 AM), and Kaua`i (KQNG 570 AM), as well as on the Governor's Web site www.hawaii.gov/gov.
February 4, Governor Lingle and representatives from State Civil Defense will discuss plans to establish pet-friendly shelters where people can bring their pets during an emergency.
February 5, Governor Lingle will deliver the keynote address at the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce's annual luncheon. She will outline priorities for the 2009 legislative session and collaborative efforts to work with legislators, counties, private sector and the community to stimulate the economy and create jobs and improve the quality of life for the people of West Hawai`i and statewide.
February 6, The Governor will deliver remarks at the 2009 Hawai`i School Counselor Association Conference. The event will be attended by school counselors from across the state from both public and private schools.
February 7, Governor Lingle will join the new year celebration at the Association of Chinese from Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos annual spring banquet.
