Public Schedule for the Week of June 1-7, 2009

June 2, Governor Lingle will meet with Jacob Dayan, Consul General of Israel to the United States.

June 2, The Governor will welcome members of the Leahi Girls Soccer Club, Leahi 97. The under-12 (U12) team ranked first in the 2009 U12 Winter Competitive Season, and won the U12 President's Day Cup in February and the U12 2009 Hawai`i State Soccer Association (HYSA) / U.S. Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) State Cup in April.

June 3, Governor Lingle will discuss state issues on her monthly radio show with host Rick Hamada from 7:05 - 8:00 a.m. HST.  Listeners are invited to call 808-521-8383 from O`ahu or 888-565-8383 from the Neighbor Islands with questions and comments.  The show can be heard live statewide on O`ahu (KHVH 830 AM), Maui (KAOI 1110 AM), Hilo (KPUA 670 AM), and Kaua`i (KQNG 570 AM).

June 3, Governor Lingle will deliver keynote remarks at the Ready to Run Conference organized by the Commission on the Status of Women.  The workshop is designed to encourage and train women to run for public office.  Only three states offer the Ready to Run program: Hawai`i, Nebraska and New Jersey, where the program was founded by the Center for American Women and Politics.

June 3, The Governor will honor the winners of the 31st Annual State Mathematics Championship, also known as the State Math Bowl XXXI.

June 3, Governor Lingle will participate in the commencement ceremony for students from seven O`ahu community schools for adults who earned their high school diploma through the successful completion of the General Education Development (GED) high school equivalency test or the Competency-Based High School Diploma Program.

June 4, Governor Lingle will join Department of Land and Natural Resources Director Laura Thielen at the dedication of the new Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor Docks B, C and D.  The new floating docks are part of the Lingle-Aiona Administration’s continuing efforts to modernize the state’s small boat harbors and other outdoor recreational facilities.

June 4, The Governor will meet with organizers of the Pan-Pacific Festival, which takes place June 5 – 7.  This year's festival, which is in its 30th year, is tied to Hawai`i's 50th anniversary of statehood and has been officially sanctioned by the Hawai`i 50th Anniversary of Statehood Commission.

June 5, Governor Lingle will present certificates of appreciation to 16 graduating seniors who have successfully completed the Punahou JROTC program.  This year's graduates are from Punahou, Kalani, St. Francis, Christian Academy, Hawai`i Baptist Academy and Academy of the Pacific.

June 5, Governor Lingle will meet with Governor Hirohiko Izumida of Niigata Prefecture, Japan.

June 5, The Governor will attend a farewell dinner for Brigadier General Peter S. Pawling who is leaving his current post as commander of the 154th Wing, Hawai`i Air National Guard (HIANG) to become PACOM's reserve air mobility assistant.

June 7, Governor Lingle will deliver congratulatory remarks at the Honolulu Niigata Kenjin Kai Centennial celebration.  The club provides a social venue for people who trace their roots to Niigata Prefecture, Japan.
