Public Schedule for the Week of March 23-28, 2009

March 23, Governor Lingle will meet Japan’s Ambassador to the United States Ichiro Fujisaki.

March 24, Governor Lingle and the Hawai‘i State Commission on the Status of Women will observe Women’s History Month.  The event will highlight the contributions of women in Hawai`i and honor environmental advocate Donna Wong, executive director of Hawai‘i’s Thousand Friends.

March 26, HOLIDAY – PRINCE KUHIO DAY

March 27, Governor Lingle and Lt. Governor Aiona will kick off the 2009 NASA/BAE Systems FIRST in Hawai`i Regional Robotics Competition.  The two-day event (March 27-28) will bring together 34 teams, representing 24 Hawai`i schools from O`ahu, Maui, Kaua`i and the Big Island, eight teams from the mainland (California, Louisiana and Wisconsin), and two international teams from Mexico and the Philippines.

March 27, Governor Lingle will participate in the swearing-in ceremony for Rom Trader, who was appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the State Senate to serve as a judge of the First Circuit Court (O`ahu).

March 28, Governor Lingle will attend the final rounds of the 2009 NASA/BAE Systems FIRST in Hawai`i Regional Robotics Competition as well as present the awards to the top teams.
