Public Schedule for the Week of October 19-23, 2009

October 19, Governor Lingle will attend the change of command ceremony as Adm. Robert Willard becomes commander of the U.S. Pacific Command.  Adm. Willard, who most recently served as commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, succeeds Adm. Timothy J. Keating who is retiring after serving as commander since 2007 and 38 years of commissioned service. 

October 19, Governor Lingle will discuss state issues in her afternoon drive-time radio show with host Mike Buck from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. HST. The show can be heard live statewide: Hilo (The Beach, KTBH 102.1 FM), Maui (KAOI 1110 AM), Kaua`i (KQNG 570 AM), and O`ahu (KHVH 830 AM).

October 19, The Governor will deliver remarks at a reception for the 2009 Hawai`i International Film Festival.

October 20, The Governor will meet with Donald Tong, Hong Kong commissioner for economic and trade affairs, USA of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Regional Government; and Jeff Leung, director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco. The meeting is part of the Administration’s continuing efforts to strengthen trade and cultural relations, economic development opportunities and clean energy partnerships with China and other Asia-Pacific partners.

October 21, Governor Lingle will meet with Vice Admiral Jodi Breckenridge, who became Pacific area commander, Coast Guard Pacific area in July. 

October 22, Governor Lingle will deliver remarks at the Japan-America Society of Hawai`i's annual dinner.

October 23, The Governor will issue a proclamation declaring November as American Pharmacists Month in Hawai`i.

October 23, Governor Lingle will address the graduates of the Juvenile Drug Court program.  Four youth who have successfully completed the program make up the graduating class.

October 23, Governor Lingle will deliver remarks at the Hawai`i Council on Economic Education's (HCEE) annual dinner. The mission of the HCEE is to promote and improve the teaching of economics in Hawai`i's public and private schools and increase the economic and financial literacy of Hawai`i's students and residents.
