October 5, Governor Lingle, Lt. Governor Aiona and State Transportation Director Brennon Morioka will dedicate the North-South Road's new diamond interchange. The long-awaited highway will connect Kapolei Parkway, Farrington Highway, and the H-1 freeway and will help reduce congestion and increase traffic flow.
October 6, Governor Lingle will hold a news conference to update the public on the progress of the state's capital improvement plan that was launched last December to stimulate the economy and create jobs in the construction and related industries.
October 7, Governor Lingle will discuss state issues on her monthly radio show with host Rick Hamada from 7:05 - 8:00 a.m. HST. Listeners are invited to call 808-521-8383 from O`ahu or 888-565-8383 from the Neighbor Islands with questions and comments. The show can be heard live statewide on O`ahu (KHVH 830 AM), Maui (KAOI 1110 AM), Hilo (KPUA 670 AM), and Kaua`i (KQNG 570 AM), as well as on the Governor's Web site www.hawaii.gov/gov.
October 7, Governor Lingle will deliver remarks at East Asian and Pacific Chiefs of Mission Conference. The conference will bring together U.S. ambassadors to countries in the Asia-Pacific region to discuss U.S. relations with Asian and the Pacific nation, challenges and opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region, and regional security.
October 8, Governor Lingle will participate in a homecoming ceremony as Hawaiian Airlines welcomes back to Hawai`i the original aircraft used when the airline, then known as Inter-Island Airways, first began serving the islands in 1929.
October 9, Governor Lingle will attend the Honolulu Orchid Society's 70th annual Orchid Plant and Flower Show. The Governor will also assist in presenting the "Best in Show" award.
